The atmosphere at Taverna on the Green was very pleasant — clean, comfortable, and tastefully lit with a soft green ambient glow that added a nice touch to the dining experience. The service was excellent from start to finish; the staff was attentive, friendly, and professional.
As for the food, it was just okay. I had the fried shrimp ($30), my wife had the chicken/eggplant ($28). Our kiddo had a burger + fries ($9). My wife's portion was pretty large but I found mine to be a bit lacking. A side salad would have rounded out my meal but unfortunately it came with only one side.
The highlight of the meal was definitely the cheesecake ($8), which was delicious and stood out as the best part of the evening. So much so that we commented to each other that we would come back just for the dessert.
While the experience overall was positive, the total cost of about $97 (pre-tip) felt a bit steep for the quality of the food. We may end up trying it again for a lunch meal instead of dinner.

Spme of the best food in Cookeville. Quiet patio seating with very attentive service. The food options were very diverse. The chicken riviera was flavorful and delicious. Also has incredible cheesecake. There was a baklava option but thought it would be pushing it to get both. Don't forget to ask about the flaming cheese!
They have only been open for a few months. The servers were so attentive! We had lamb chops and the gyro Greek salad platter. Delicious food and large portions, great for taking some home for another meal. The tzatziki sauce was yummy and the pita bread tasted freshly baked. They had mint jam, which is not my favorite, as I prefer mint sauce or chimichurri sauce with lamb, but that was minor. The lamb was cooked perfect.
The restaurant was in a large space with booths and tables at this golf clubhouse, with an adjacent live jazz lounge room. We were glad to have authentic Greek food for the first time in a long while. We enjoyed cocktails and wine as well. After dinner we left and enjoyed the live music for a bit. A nice evening. Looking forward to trying lunch, brunch, and the baklava another time!

We went with a group this evening. The food was outstanding in every way. I love Greek food and this was some of the best I have ever had. We are already planning our next trip. Great service!!!!’ You need to try this place!!!!
